Refinance Counseling

Mortgage rates remain near multi-year lows, and if you haven't done so yet, now might be the perfect time to consider refinancing your existing home. The opportunity to lower your interest rate can mean extra money in your pocket each month and real long-term savings over the course of your mortgage. Our homeownership counselors will work with you for no charge, and can help you navigate your options, compare the terms, and give you a clear understanding of what a lower interest rate can mean for your finances.

Additionally, if you have a "special mortgage" - that is, your mortgage was originated, subsidized, or guaranteed through a unit of government or a nonprofit organization - you may need to receive counseling before refinancing. Our homeownership counselors can tell if you this applies to you.

What will my appointment look like?

During your meeting, your counselor will help you compare your existing mortgage to the proposed mortgage, evaluate the financial advantage of refinancing, and determine if you can refinance without paying off any special mortgage.
