All foreclosure prevention services are free, including:

  • Information about the foreclosure process
  • Financial and mortgage counseling
  • Identify options for preventing foreclosure
  • Reviewing programs such as Making Home Affordable or Foreclosure Sale Postponement
  • Assist with applying for work out options and facilitate communication with mortgage company
  • Information on predatory practices and how to address mortgage scams
  • Smooth transition counseling if foreclosure is imminent

Be aware of companies who charge fees, ‘guarantee’ a modification or ask you to sign over your property or legal rights. Homeowners who suspect a scam are encouraged to call us immediately.

The HRA offers foreclosure prevention workshops in the Washington County libraries. Attendance is free and there is not registration needed.
